Poppets have been crafted and used in spellworking for thousands of years. As far back as Ancient Egypt, then forward through Babylonia, and Greece, our ancestors have been crafting rough human shapes to represent those they wish to help, and harm, by transforming wax, dough, clay, and wood. These figures, poppets, were often decorated elaborately to represent someone, but just as often left plain.

We use Stockmar modelling beeswax in these kits because of its aromatic beeswax content, which is the most ideal modelling material we've worked with. It is clean in handling and absolutely hygienic. It doesnt smudge, crumble or bleed and its colour is pure and bright because of its high transparency.
We must confess that we love to sit and play with bits of this high quality German made wax. We love the smell and the feel of beeswax. You can squeeze this down to a paper-thin, translucent thickness. We adore that it really doesn't get on anything. It's completely nontoxic and dyed with colorfast pigments, a few minutes of gentle kneading warms the wax and lets you shape it into whatever figures you like. It's reusable like modeling dough but it doesn't dry out, ever! This is a pleasant and natural alternative to standard modeling materials, with a natural feel and a pleasant aroma of beeswax.
You may need to provide an additional common item available in most homes (such as thread/ribbon, a sheet of paper, common kitchen herbs, etc) for some spells. Each beeswax stick is about 1-1/2 inch by 4 inches by 3/16 inch thick.
