Thoth is the God of wisdom & the scribal professions. Thoth manifested himself as a baboon, an ibis, or aman with the head of an ibis. He was frequently represented recording important proceedings, such as the "Weighing of the Heart" ceremony which was believed to take place after death. He was also closely associated with the moon so was often depicted wearing a lunar disc and crescent on his head. His chief cult centre was that of Hermopolis Magna in Middle Egypt, where all that remains today are two huge statues of baboons erected by the 18th Dynasty king Amenhotep III. These statues are extremely impressive & are sculpted of immense blocks of quartzite about 15 feet tall (excluding the bases) and weigh about 35 tons each. During the Ptolemaic Period, Thoth was identified wtih the Greek God Hermes.
8 inches tall. These statues are made of a cold cast resin & hand painted.
