Frank E Bittinger Fire Fund
In the wee hours of Thursday, May 29, 2008 R'Chel's brother, author Frank E Bittinger, lost his home to an arson fire meant to consume his neighbor's house.

In addition to his career as an author, Frank rescued homeless animals. Saddly, some of them did not make it. This fund is for the vet bills, and accomodations of the cats, birds, bunnies, iguanas, dogs, and the others who survived. Your donations will help him rebuild their home, and to provide for these animals in the interim.

Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated, and go directly to Frank. Another fund was started, which some of you may have donated to. The adminstrator of that fund has since gone out of business and is no longer accepting donations. This is now the official donation portal for Frank E Bittinger and animals. Please know that all proceeds from your donations here are deposited directly by you, into Frank's Fire Fund.

Product Description

This beautiful 4.5"H x 7"L (11 x 17 cm) box made of bonded marble with a gold finish with color detail will be treasured by anyone interested in ancient egyptian art.

The scarab was associated very early on in Egypt with the generative forces of the rising sun and with the concepts of eternal renewal. The beetle is known for coming out of the sand backwards dragging its ball of dung behind it along the ground before depositing it in underground tunnels as a source of food for its larvae, therefore symbolizing the suns daily journey across the heavens from East to West. Because the young beetles seemed to emerge spontaneously from these tunnels, the Egyptians worshipped the scarab under the name Khepri: He who came forth from the earth or He who came into being. Thus the beetle was equated with the creator Got Atum from early times. Scarabs thus became potent amulets and were often placed upon the breasts of mummies in the position of the heart as a symbol of new life and were then weighed against the feather of truth in the final judgment. They were usually inscribed with part of chapter 30 of the Book of the Dead.
