Background: In China, fo-ti was once thought to cure infertility during the Tang dynasty. It continues to be used in China to treat many ailments from impotence to angina. It is thought to be a good treatment for heart disease. It can also be used to aid the immune system. Fo-ti is also used widely in Japan and Taiwan where it is grown.

Fo-ti is most commonly used to improve immune function and heart health.
Laxative: Fo-ti can be used to ease constipation.
Immunity: Fo-ti can be used to strengthen the immune system.
Heart Health: Fo-ti is used to improve red blood cell production. It also prevents hardening of the arteries.
Description:
Fo-ti is native to China, but is also grown in Japan and Taiwan. The Fo-ti root is used either processed or unprocessed.
Fo-ti Dosage:
Boil 3-5 grams of processed roots in 1 cup of water for 10-15 minutes for a tea. Drink 3 cups each day.
Fo-ti tablets are commercially made. Follow the manufacturer's label directions.
Safety:
Some people may develop a skin rash from fo-ti. Unprocessed fo-ti root can also cause diarrhea. Do not take more than the recommended dose. High doses of fo-ti can sometimes cause numbness in the limbs. Consult your health care provider before beginning use of any herb.
