Background:Sarsaparilla was once used to treat syphilis. Once people saw that it wasn't terribly effective at this treatment, it began to be used less and less. A better use for the root is as a treatment for skin irritations. Sarsaparilla was the original "root" of the drink rootbeer. Now it's been replaced with artificial flavorings.
In addition, sarsaparilla can be used to treat some problems with menses and menopause. It also helps to improve muscle tone on the body as a result of its pro-testosterone effect.

Description:

As a decoction add 1-2 tsp root to 1 cup water. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Drink 3 times daily.
As a tincture, take 1-2 ml 3 times daily.
