This is a large piece, 3" x 3" and thick. The Cimaruta Witch Charm Pendant is very old and steeped in history and witchcraft. The Cimaruta charm, also known as the Witches Amulet is the oldest symbol of hereditary witchcraft. It represents a sprig of rue herb and from the rue branches at each end is a sprout. Out of the sprout comes forth the occult symbols of the key, dagger, blossom and moon. The dagger has the power to slay and transform; the flower blossom has 5 petals and is the ritual pentacle of protection and also a symbol of vervain; the key is a symbol of the gatekeeper allowing access into forbidden spaces, times and knowledge; the moon is a symbol of the goddess and her house; the three other bud ends enclose inside, invisible to the human naked eye, the symbols of the snake (a symbol of health and well being), fish (is a symbol of the occult life force and fertility) and cock (is the watchful guardian and aggressive causing large creatures to run). This witch charm comes to you on black cord. Due to its large size not only can it be worn around the neck but can also be hung above any door, on the wall and near any sacred altar space. This charm was used by the Society of Diana, the Old Religion of the Witches, in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries and a similar item is housed in the museum of Bologna. Crafted of fine pewter in the U.S.A.
