Our body contains seven main energy centers that are called Chakras. Each chakra is connected to our major organs and glands that govern our body parts.
Chakra is a Sanskrit word which means wheel. A chakra is a wheel-like spinning vortex that draws in anything it encounters on its particular vibratory level. These spinning wheels draw in energy from our surroundings as well as radiate an energy of vibration back out.
Each Chakra is connected on several different levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The seven main chakra centers are aligned along the spinal column. If there are disturbances on any level, this effects the chakras level of vitality.
Each chakra is not only associated with our physical health but also controls aspects connected to our emotional, mental and belief system.
Great pride is taken in the original designs, and craftsmanship in each and every one of these altar boards. Pagan crafters create and take their time when making your altar(s) by hand. Yes, each and everyone is painstakingly created from scratch. Lots of love, care and energy go into each and every one of your altars as it is crafted for the end user in mind. For example, the images for all of the Yantra/Vastu altars are originally hand painted and designed by an artist with over 30 years experience in the hindu arts, beliefs, religion and way of life. Once the artist creates the images, it is then digitized to correct any small imperfections prior to mounting on the altar. While the images are being hand painted, the appropriate mantra is recited over and over again, so in essence, each and every single altar is energized and ready for your use prior to your receiving it. This makes your altar one of the most desired and effective tools you could possibly own.
Each altar is designed for a specific purpose in mind, and it is then specifically charged for that purpose. This makes it much more effective than anything you could possibly find elsewhere. The end result is your receiving an image direct form the artist that has been added to an altar fully charged with energy for your personal use. The artists who created the original designs have backgrounds and histories that allow them to produce works of art that truly have deep meaning, and are fantastic tools for your use.
All Spiritual Altar Boards measure approximately 12 inches in diameter and are crafted of natural wood. The wood used is of the highest grade 3/8" virgin birch available, stained to a beautiful rich red mahogany tone. The result is a luxurious appearance, with a warm surrounding framing effect for the beautiful image. It then has a protective finish applied over the entire exterior surface of the board and the image, both front and back. With the bottom of board being finished, we have applied felt Anti Scratch feet for a non skid movement on flat surfaces. The felt feet will allow the bottom of the altar board to be protected, and also protect the surface that it sits upon.
Birch has been considered to be magickal for many centuries. They have been the homes of wood spirits and the keepers of sacred circles. The woods were places where witches met and were filled with much power and magick. Trees are a source of power because they are rooted in the Mother Earth and they reach to the heavens. This is the essential posture we seek in trying to reach a state of balance during meditation. We visualize a stream of energy from the Earth flowing up into us, as a stream of energy flows into us from above. Trees are in this state all the time and are therefore a very natural source of power for magick. Most any tree can be used for magickal purposes, though certain trees seem better suited to certain forms of Magick.
The birch tree is long associated with protection, fertility new beginnings and healing magic. Birch twigs were used to bestow fertility. Birch is one of the first trees to grow on bare soil and thus it births the entire forest. Birch was associated with Thor, probably in recognition of his role as an agricultural and fertility deity.
Birch is an incredibly useful tree - nearly every part of it is edible, and its sap was an important source of sugar to Native Americans and early settlers. The inner bark provides a pain reliever and the leaves are used to treat arthritis. Its bark was used for everything from paper to canoe hulls, and axe handles were also made from Birch. Birch is very useful for fertility and healing spells.
The birch tree symbolizes a fresh start and can bring courage and determination to those of us who are treading the path of spiritual growth and development for the first time. Although the birch does appear fragile, it is in fact extremely hardy. This teaches us that in apparent weakness there is often to be found great strength. The birch also promises new life and love, and is a potent symbol of purification and renewal, which focuses our attention on our potential for the change and on the consideration of new directions and goals to be experienced in our lives.
Birch is considered to have great powers of purification and renewal. The energy of the birch is of new beginnings and cleansing- shedding the old and moving on to the new. It is also a tree of protection. With the exception of the elder, birch is the earliest of the forest trees.
Let us not forget other magickal uses of birch that deal with creativity, and spells for discipline and service.
The birch tree is well known for many magickal properties, and we would argue, it is the most powerful of the tree family, with the most usefulness and most power of all of the tree families.
