Set of 15 metamorphic rocks. Samples are approximately 1-1/2 to 2 inch chunks. Metamorphic Rocks can be formed by different processes. Generally they are recrystallized in the solid state by pressure and heat, and may be influenced by the introduction of solutions. Igneous, sedimentary, and pre-existing metamorphic may become new metamorphic rocks. The change may be partial and some of the original characteristics may be retained, or it may be so complete that new minerals are formed and the textures altered completely. You'll receive the following: Biotite Gneiss (mica, quartz, feldspar), Graphite Schist, Mica Schist, Garnet Mica Schist, Slate, Phyllite, Soapstone, Quartzite, Serpentinite, Epidosite (epidote, quartz), Marble (calcite, dolomite), Serpentine Marble, Amphibolite (amphiboles, feldspar), Hornfels. Lovely set for any collector or practitioner. Includes 15 metamorphic rocks, and description sheet in display box.
