In the realm of natural essences Cedar is regarded as dignified, grounding, and strengthening. When considering which wood to use for this Labyrinth several were tried to determine which the artists hearts opened to. They found Red (Aromatic) Cedar, and that was it. The Heart Opening Labyrinth was born.
Cedar is a comforting wood with a true natural beauty and a wonderful aroma. It enhances focus and helps to free anxiety and scattered thought. Because of its unique qualities (no two boards are alike) each Labyrinth is different and filled with a heart-opening quality.
Cedar is also one of the four woods used historically in the ceremonial rite of retiring an American Flag. In the ceremony Cedar represents protection from pestilence and corruption, and the preservation of the American way of life. Each one of our Labyrinths is made with loving care.
