Product Description

Transfers best onto 100% cotton or cotton/poly blends or 100% polyester. It can be used on silk, but the transfer has a rather "plasticy" feel for a delicate fabric like silk. For fabrics like nylon and rayon, great care must be taken because the heat of the iron may shrink the actual fabric and make the transfer look funky (shrunken at the edges).

Any part of the image that is blank, white, or lightly colored will allow the color of the fabric you iron the design on to show through. If you'd like the white areas of the graphic to stay white, instead of showing the color of your garment, please check out the opaque transfer we have available.

HEAT PRESS APPLICATION
The best results are obtained using a commercial heat press. This is a "clam shell" device which applies heat and high pressure for a set amount of time. Unfortunately, they are expensive. If you can get the use of one, use it at 325 Fahrenheit for 15-20 seconds. Remove paper while hot for a satin finish, or peel cold for a glossy finish. Make sure you trim the design first.

HOT IRON APPLICATION
A hard flat surface - like a counter top is recommended. Do not use a glass or metal surface, or an ironing board.
Trim any blank, unprinted area of the transfer.
Preheat the iron at the hottest setting (cotton).
Place the fabric on a hard surface. Iron the garment without steam to remove wrinkles and moisture from the fabric. This also preheats the garment.
Place the transfer image side down on the fabric.
Press iron firmly over the transfer for 15-20 seconds in each position, starting in the center and working in a circular fashion towards the outer edges to eliminate bubbles. Continue until th eentire transfer has been covered.
Heat the entire surface again using a circular motion.
Peel the paper backing off while hot for a satin finish or cold for a glossy finish.

WASHING INSTRUCTION
Newly applied transfers feel a bit stiff. This feel will become softer after washing.
Always turn the garment inside out to protect the design.
Wash in warm or cold water only.
Plain detergent is ok, but do not use bleach or detergents containing whiteners, brighteners, bleaches, etc. These will fade the design.
Remove from washer immediately and tumble dry on low or air/fluff setting. The water-soluble ink on the transfer can bleed if garment is left wet, or hung to dry. You must tumble dry to prevent this.
If the garment needs ironing, don't iron directly on the transfer, cover it with baking parchment to protect the design.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Cracks...can be caused by not preheating the fabric to get moisture out, or after washing if the fabric not preshrunk, or from the fabric being stretched too much.
Hard looking surface that almost peels off...iron was too hot.
Doesn't stick to the fabric...iron was too cool.
Bubbles...not evenly applied from center working outwards.
Fading...these inks are water soluble and can fade over time with continuous washings (just like everything else).
Bleeding...garment was hung to dry, or left wet (see washing instructions.)

Circular Pentacle designs contain the following sizes: 7-1/2 inch diameter, 3 inch diameter, 2 inch diameter, 1-1/2 inch diameter.
Triple Moon designs contain the following sizes: 9 inch wide, 6 inch wide, 4 inch wide, 2 inch wide.

Opaque or Transparent? Which to choose? Depends on what you want the final design to look like.

Transparent: Areas of the design which are white/light colored will allow the color of your garment to show through.

Opaque: Areas of the design which are white/light colored stay white/light colored.
