Spirit Boards The first historical mention of spirit boards is found in China around 1200BC. Some sources claim that Pythagoras would conduct seances using something resembling a spirit board. Spirit boards have been used modern day since about the mid 1800's when various means were implimented to spell out messages by pendulum, or with a planchette.
